A study on Aspiration and Participation of Farm Youth Towards Agriculture

Rural youth are very important part of the rural society and play’s important role in agriculture (Umesh et al., 2019). Lack of employment and food security are the primary problems in the country which can be reduced by improving the participation of youth in agriculture and the agriculture sector is considered as one of the leading employment in developing countries (White, 2012) and also agriculture is considered to be as a solution to most of the socio-economic challenges, if the participation of youth in agriculture will increase in agriculture sector one of the main problem food security can be reduced and agriculture leads to formation of jobs among rural youth. To increase the contribution of youth in agriculture government started many programmes to retain youth in agriculture such as Attracting Rural Youth and Retaining of Youth in Agriculture (ARYA), Youth in Agriculture and Rural Development (YARD), National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) and Agricultural Skill Council of India (ASCI) all these programmes were launched to retain and participation of youth in agriculture.
