About Me

Completed Ph.D. in December 2019 from the Agricultural and Food Engineering Department, IIT Kharagpur under the Guidance of Prof. K N Tiwari. Worked as a Research Associate in Precision Farming Development Centre, IIT Kharagpur, Sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare for 10 years (2010-2020).  The Research area was micro-irrigation, greenhouse, protected cultivation technologies, and Hydroponics. Completed M.Tech(Ag. Engg.) from UAS Dharwad in the year 2006 and B.Tech (Ag.Engg.) from the UAS Dharwad in the year 2003. Had 4 years of Industrial Experience (TAFE Tractor, GEA Farm Technologies, Ratnagiri Impex Pvt. Ltd.) as a marketing professional.

Ph.D. Research Title: Irrigation and fertigation studies on banana crop under drip and black plastic mulch

A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of four irrigation treatments under drip and black plastic mulch (BPM) on the banana crop (cv. Grand Naine) at Precision Farming Development Centre, IIT Kharagpur. Crop coefficients established using dual crop coefficient approach for banana crop at different growth stages for drip along with black plastic mulch. SIMDualKc and AquaCrop models were used to simulate the soil moisture and water balance components, and to simulate the yield of the banana crop under drip irrigation with BPM and no mulch treatment. Water balance parameters simulated by The SimDualKc model matched closely with the observed field data. The predicted yield of the banana crop under drip irrigation with the AquaCrop model matches closely with the observed yield. Another two field experiments were conducted to optimize the fertigation dose and fertigation intervals for the banana crop.
