About Me

Dr. Chatterjee has passed his UG in Horticulture from BCKV, WB in the year 2015 being the second topper of the batch. On that very year, he has qualified AIEEA-PG in 'Horticulture' conducted by ICAR and got the opportunity to pursue his Master degree in Horticulture (specialization in Vegetable Science) from first established Horticulture university in Asia, Dr. YSPUHF, Nauni, Solan, HP with ICAR National Talent Scholarship (NTS). He has completed his M.Sc. with certificate of merit in 2017 and also qualified ICAR ASRB NET in 'Olericulture'. Dr. Chatterjee had also qualified AICE-JRF/SRF (PGS) conducted by ICAR in the same year. He has completed his Ph.D. from BCKV with prestigious University Research Scholarship (URS) sponsored by Government of West Bengal in the year 2022. His Research was on the topic "Yield components, nodulation and gene action in French bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)". Dr. Chatterjee has written a significant number of Research and review papers, short communications, book chapters and regional language articles (Bengali) in several National and Internationally reputed journals, books and popular regional magazines and newspapers. He was the Gold Medalist for being all India topper in short term course namely Green Revolution Global Certification Programme: An Initiative by International Center for Culture & Education to educate, inspire and act against climate change (Supported by United Nations: Framework Convention on Climate Change). In 2020, he has been awarded with 'Young Scientist Award' from VDGOOD. Dr. Chatterjee also received the 'BEST ACADEMICIAN AWARD' from the International Conference on 'Futuristic Agricultural Advancement and Marketing Policy for Nutritional Food security (FAAMPNFS 2022)' jointly organized by ICAR-ATARI (Kanpur), Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research (IISR, Lucknow), Swedish Jagaran Manch and R S Krishi Shodh Evam Prashikhan Sasthan and Susanskriti. Research Fields

The Ph.D. research problem was planned and executed with the following objectives:

•To assess the genetic variability of French bean germplasm for growth, yield and quality traits
•To study the associationship among different horticultural traits to identify important selection indices
•To assess the extent of genetic diversity of collected French bean germplasm through multivariate analysis
•To study on nodulation behavior of French bean
•To estimate the extent of heterosis and nature and magnitude of gene action
•To study on inheritance pattern of pod characters of French bean
