About Me

Dr. Umakanta Nayak is an Associate Professor in the School of Management.  He facilitates courses in the Human Resource Management area and General Management area in the School of Management. Besides teaching, he is actively involved in administration, research, projects and imparting training to different stakeholders. He is a Ph.D. in Management. His doctoral research is on Urban Governance and M.Phil dissertation is on Public Policy.  He has completed his MBA with HR specialization. He has publications in the Governance and HR areas.

Research Fields

Carried out doctoral research from the system perspective to analyse the commonalities and differences of the San Diego City Council in USA and Bangalore Municipality Corporation in India. The focus of the study was on the determinants of growth of local governments, the intergovernmental relationships among different levels of Governments, the powers (legislative, administrative and financial) and functions (amenities and services) of the local governments, and the role of civil society in shaping the governance system.
